A multi-track recorder that lives in your browser.

Record, layer, and mix audio like a classic cassette four-track - no uploads, no accounts, nothing installed. Your songs stay on your machine.

Everything a four-track needs. Nothing it doesn't.

Nothing leaves your machine

Recordings are stored locally - in a workspace folder or in your browser. No servers, no accounts.

Four tracks, expandable

Start with four tracks and add more whenever a song needs the extra layer.

WAV or MP3 export

Bounce your mix to a finished stereo file at the bitrate you need.

Keyboard-first workflow

Space to play, Shift+Space to record, number keys to arm tracks.

How it works

Choose a workspace

Pick a folder on your device or let your browser handle storage. Chrome and Edge can use the File System Access API; Safari and iOS use IndexedDB as a fallback. Your audio never passes through our servers.

Record and layer

Arm a track, select your input, enable the Click track if you want a metronome, and press REC then PLAY. The raw microphone signal is captured through the Web Audio API, and the latency slider keeps overdubs in time with what is already playing.

Mix and export

Use the faders, pan knobs, mute and solo buttons to balance your song, then press Export mix to render a stereo WAV or MP3 file you can save anywhere.

Frequently asked questions

Is NovaStudio really free?
Yes. There is no subscription, no account, and no usage cap. The app runs entirely in your browser and stores files on your own device.
Where are my recordings stored?
On your own machine - either in a folder you choose through the File System Access API, or in your browser's IndexedDB storage when that API is not available. Nothing is uploaded to us by default.
What browsers are supported?
Chrome, Edge, and other Chromium-based browsers on desktop and Android work best. Safari on iOS and macOS is supported through an IndexedDB fallback.
